Visit HD General Management →I'm an award-winning commercial producer, curator and facilitator based in London, with nearly ten years of making theatre, events and live experiences behind me.
I've produced across fringe, festivals, audio, live capture and the West End: drag panto, musicals, new writing and everything in between. My first West End credit came in 2020 as Associate Producer on Death Drop at the Garrick Theatre, which made me the youngest-ever female producer on the West End. Since then, highlights include co-producing Bonnie & Clyde in the West End, taking Invisible from the Bush Theatre to New York, and producing and general managing Why Am I So Single? at the Garrick Theatre, nominated for the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Beyond the stage, I'm Christmas Lectures Project Manager at the Royal Institution, delivering its flagship lectures, broadcast on the BBC each Christmas, including the 200th anniversary series. This summer I produced Threads, Hackney Empire's Artist Development Project, with 50 young people making a show in two weeks.
I create and develop my own shows, work as a producer for hire on other people's, and general manage through my sister company, HD General Management. I sit on the board of UK Theatre, and have previously been Theatre Producer at Soho Theatre and a board member of the League of Independent Producers and Musical Theatre Network. I hold a First in Social Anthropology from the LSE.
Everyone deserves to feel at home in an audience.
After years running Ameena Hamid Productions, I took a year out to step back and reframe my practice: to expand into new areas, to be more selective about the work I take on, and to spend some time reflecting on my roots.
Here in the UK, this English spelling of my name is rare, and the new logo nods to where it comes from. The sweep beneath my name is أ, alif: the first letter of the Arabic alphabet, and the first letter of my name in Arabic.
It's a fresh start, and a reminder to stay grounded in who I am and always have been.
